With a career that spans nearly 25 years, IQ remains one of the biggest names in the world of Progressive Rock. Getting their start in Southhampton England back in 1981, IQ was often compared to two other great Prog bands from the UK, Marillion and Genesis. For years the band struggled to create their own identity. And they did so by outlasting the glory days of Fish’s Marillion and Gabriel’s Genesis. Here again is IQ with their classic line-up of Peter Nicholls, Martin Orford, Mike Holmes, John Jowitt and Paul Cook. After a few years away from IQ, Ever brought lead singer Peter Nicholls back into the fold for this 1993 release. The Genesis influences are still very strong and in fact this album gives a superficial idea of what Genesis might have sounded like if Gabriel had continued. Often considered both IQ s best work and one of the finest neo-prog albums, it is highly recommended to anyone lacking some original neo-prog sounds in their collection.

Good band with a crap singer - I bought this after i heard the band, Frost. The keyboardist is from IQ and wrote everything on the Frost cd. IQ is a really good band, but I get the feeling the vocalist is phony and loves the sound of his own voice. Sorry, this just didn t do it for me

IQ - Peter Nichols Big Comeback - After one album with record company Giant Polygram IQ were dropped and went on hiatus for a few years. Eventually the band got back together with original vocalist Peter Nichols and added bass player John Jowitt for this release. Ever is one of the band s best. They sound like a band with something to prove and everything about this album is classic IQ. The songs are all great, The Darkest Hour, Fading Senses, Out Of Nowhere, Further Away, Leap Of Faith, and Came Down rank up with the best of IQ. The band has never sounded better, and Peter Nichols continues is vocal improvement. There is not much negative I can say about this one. If you like IQ or are into good neo prog this album is essential.

They should call me Columbus ( part 2) - Awesome band that continues the prog tradition. Essential!

One of my favorite from IQ - If you don t know IQ, I would suggest to began with this one. There is only one weaker song Out of nowhere The rest of the album is top rated prog music, songs very well constructed with very good production. Highly recommanded for any prog music fan.

Now, this is prog! - Many IQ fans consider this the pre-eminent album from this band. I might differ there but I d call this a likable recording. Peter Nicholls voice has matured from annoying to somewhere between tolerable, amusing and an acquired taste. The instrumentalists have matured in their style and while they owe much to Genesis for their sound, they could have done much worse than borrowing from that seminal band.
